Supporting Secondary Teaching Assistants in Maths

A fantastic opportunity for Secondary Teaching Assistants who are supporting students in Maths, to build their subject knowledge and confidence. This Work Group will look at content, resources and methods to support the students and will culminate in looking at how the information learnt could be effectively shared with other TAs in the participants’ schools.

The Work Group also aims to support schools working on addressing specific challenges in Secondary mathematics teaching, through the use of teaching for mastery approaches in order to support students with Special Educational Needs.

Ideally for Teaching Assistants supporting students in Maths in KS3 the Work Group includes morning sessions at St John the Baptist School, Elmbridge Lane, Woking GU22 9AL and Online:

Session 1:  Weds 2 March,  9-12pm at SJB, Woking

3 x Online Sessions: Wednesdays 30 March, 27 April and 15 June 9.30 - 11am

Session 5:  Weds 29 June, 9-2.30pm at SJB Woking

Due to anticipated popularity, registration is limited to a maximum of 2 Secondary Teaching Assistants per school. who will need to attend all sessions and complete intersessional tasks and activities.

All registrants will be required to join an NCETM Basecamp online community for this Work Group in order to access resources and information. Please ensure you tick the box to confirm this when you register.
